Lot 175: Vintage Paloma Picasso X-shaped Clip-ons

Vintage clip-ons earrings with the X motif. The graphic X shape recalls motifs often used by Paloma Picasso in her designs for Tiffany & Co., particularly in the Graffiti collection. In one interview, Picasso explained that the form was inspired by the English-language habit of signing letters with “x” or “xxx” as kisses — a gesture she found affectionate, but not overly sweet.

Daughter of Pablo Picasso and Françoise Gilot, Paloma Picasso is renowned for her jewelry designs for Tiffany & Co. She also ventured into perfume production and created noteworthy costume jewelry, bags, sunglasses, and various accessories.


The length of a clip is 4 cm. Some plating wear in several areas, consistent with age and use.
