Lot 195: Vintage Estelle Bijoux Brooch

Here’s a riddle: it looks weighty but feels almost weightless. This vintage Estelle Bijoux brooch dates from the 1980s or early 1990s.

Made from lightweight molded resin with a metallized finish, it has the volume and presence of cast metal without the weight. This clever construction allows it to be worn not only on jackets, but also on sweaters, long-sleeved tops, and medium-weight T-shirts without pulling at the fabric.

Its fan-like shape reflects the Neo-Art Deco aesthetic of the 1980s: the geometry of 1920s and 1930s Art Deco, made bolder, more sculptural, and more theatrical.

Condition: good vintage condition, with light signs of age and wear.
